End of Summer Wish List

With the torrential rain in Edinburgh today I can feel the approach of Autumn, and I have to say I'm pretty excited! The transition between Summer and Autumn is my favourite time of year for many reasons, one being the darker palette of A/W collections which suit my tastes completely.

I've been browsing different sites for Autumn inspiration and compiled my 'End of Summer' wish list - enjoy!

Silk Top - & Other Stories

Leather Flats - & Other Stories

Dark Floral Jumpsuit - Topshop

House Ring - Monki

Printed Tote - Monki

Floral Shirt - Topshop Boutique

'Jasper' Cut Out Boots - Topshop

Plain T-Shirt Dress - Monki

Printed Tote - Monki

Bunny Necklace - Monki

As you can probably tell, Monki is one of my new favourite online shops; I love the fun yet stylish aesthetic their clothes and accessories have, and their design is always spot on. (Unfortunately their website appears to not allow linking to specific products, however I've linked to their product pages).

Another of my favourites at the moment is & Other Stories, whose beautiful pieces all seem to be impeccably designed and styled in their 'stories', or lookbooks. I love discovering online shops such as these because they give you much better design and quality for a more reasonable price than most high-street brands.

Update - STV's 'Get The Look'

A while back in my 'Love From Lou Lou' post I mentioned that my fellow blogger Louise and myself had been asked while out shooting photos to take part in a little short by STV called 'Get the Look', which showcases street style across Scotland.
I recently received an email with an attached copy of the episode in which I feature, which was very exciting and a delight to watch! It's being shown in advert breaks during Coronation St, as far as I'm aware.
Having people mention that they'd spotted me on TV is a little unsettling at times, but great fun, and I'm so happy to have been a small part of this project!

Here's the clip in which my outfit is featured, and you can see the details of my outfit in this post.

Flora

Here are some of the shots I got while out at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh with Adam...

...and the necessary selfie of the day.

We ate afterward at a lovely little cafe called The Circle Cafe - I was really impressed by the friendly, unobtrusive service from the genuinely lovely staff, as well as the cake/tea on offer. My choice was this amazing chocolate and chilli cake with some plain old tea. It was absolutely delicious.

Finally, Adam's (and my) friend and talented illustrator/animator Hugo Cuellar directed a short film for the Botanics, about a disease affecting multitudes of ash trees in the UK. We looked for it at the Botanics but couldn't find it, however here's a link to the video and to Hugo's tumblr - check it out!

OOTD - Baroque

Just a quick OOTD today, as it's WAY too hot outside to do much else! Although I've been moaning constantly about the ridiculously hot weather we have seen in Edinburgh over the last couple of weeks, it does give me the opportunity to wear outfits I wouldn't get away with in cooler weather.

This outfit was what I wore to work yesterday, hence all of the Topshop clothing. This black cami is the latest addition to my wardrobe, along with some new acid wash Leigh jeans. It's made out of a lovely semi-sheer fabric that's not clingy and has a flattering, not-too-deep v-neck and pretty thin straps: a perfect staple piece!

My shorts were from the A/W '12 collection at Topshop - they're a gorgeous deep blue velvet which just makes any outfit look luxurious, and I have always thought the gold button was a perfect choice to offset the colour.

I've written about my floral kimono before in my OOTD - Oriental post, check it out here! Also, my necklace from Accessorize I wrote about here in my accessories edit.

Finally, I've been wearing these boots pretty much every day recently! They're from Dune, and to me they're the perfect ladylike Chelsea-style boot. The heel is the perfect height and they're such good quality and so comfortable and easy to wear with any outfit. They were a little pricier than I would usually go, but I used a £20 off voucher which was free in ELLE magazine last year which really made a difference.

Adam and I went exploring in the Botanic Gardens today and I got some great photographs which I'll post tomorrow! Until then, enjoy the sun if you have it,

OOTD - The Perfect Shorts

Shorts - MONSOON
Shirt - TOPSHOP
Boots - TOPSHOP
Belt - FOREVER 21

This is the first OOTD I've had the time (and cause) to do in so long! Here in Edinburgh we've been having an incredibly unusual spell of boiling hot weather, and as a religious wearer of year-round winter clothes I've been struggling with the temperatures. I figured I better buy some summer gear, and came across these amazing shorts! I wore this outfit for my shift at Topshop today.

They were a bit of an unusual find actually; they were from Monsoon, which is somewhere I never usually shop, as their products (although beautiful) aren't really to my taste. However, I popped in the other day and found this lone pair of perfect shorts in the sale! They're not too short, which is a big thing for me as I hate being paranoid about having my bum on show. They're a little too big but I love the oversized look this gives, emphasised by the big turn-up cuffs.
I think I'll scour the charity shops for a thicker black belt to wear with them though, as this little skinny one tends to creep up above the waistline, as you can see in the photo above.

Here they are without tights (daring!) and paired with a sweet little grey crop I found in the New Look sale for £7.

Finally, my shoes today are from Topshop. I adore their badass, grungy vibe, and they're super comfy as they're not that high.

Backstage at Cheynes

It's safe to say I'm pretty exhausted after the shoot yesterday with Cheynes - we were all there for almost 12 hours! However the atmosphere was wonderful, thanks to a mixture of the amazing team, the coolest venue ever and a certain Andy Murray. The other models were so lovely and friendly and were all breathtaking - it was a little daunting at times.

Here are some sneaky backstage shots from the shoot! I'll post the finished results when I receive them.

On Saturday, Adam and I went exploring in the beautiful Roslin Glen, somewhere that has a lot of meaning to the both of us. It's a wonderfully ethereal place full of magical flora and fauna, and a great place for filming and photography. I'll feature all of the photos in my next post, but here's a sneak peek showing off my (then incomplete) new haircut.

Sunglasses - FOSSIL
Adam, who took this shot, is in the middle of piecing together a little short film out of the clips he shot during the day - I'll post it on here as soon as it's ready!
